Log: Because I can

Ipin stood in the final form of her kata, hands outstretched pulling through the fluid motions. It felt like being at home in Japan actually with all the cherry blossoms fluttering around, the soft sounds of some of the crew at the dive site a way off. It was really peaceful here though. Which was good because she was going to need to find that center to finish her report on time when this latest bazooka finally wore off. She must have finally found Lambo and punished him for the marker. It was hard to tell sometimes whens he came back. The first had been a nightmare of time jumping. She never knew where she'd end up and she couldn't do anything when she couldn't take more than a few steps before disappearing and reappearing somewhere else again. So it was nice to get in a full set of kata.

Ipin still had trouble thinking of a person as a country. "Ahh well.." She trailed off. She was glad he changed the subject. "Oh! I was doing some when you got here, you probably know it all..." She felt a little shy showing kata to someone who was probably a master at the art.

"I want to."

Truth be told, Hong Kong probably had his own style of martial arts complete with his own lame yet awesome hand gesture.

"I would like to see yours."

She tugged at the end of his belt around her waist and blushed a little. "Well... ok." She moved back out into the clearing from where they had moved when they were setting off fireworks. "I'll do the first form?" She looked back at him to see if that was ok before falling into a standard stance. Her arms lifted and she began to move through the form fluidly, slow steady motions almost like pulling her body through water as she adjusted and pulled or kicked or made a blocking motion, her face became passive and concentrated as she moved through moves she knew like walking or writing. When she finished she drew herself up into a standing position and took a few deep breaths before bowing and turning back to face Hong Kong.

He bowed in response to her when she finished. He didn't clap or anything, the bow was to represent that. Then a nod.

"That one is not very advanced," he said. He enjoyed watching her do her kata in such a focused manner. "You really like doing that."

She clasped her hands in front of her a little self consciously. "There are only three open hand forms and I don't have any weapons on hand. That first form is used to develop focus and stability, proper breathing and focused energy. So there's not a lot of ground movement in it. But I think all the forms are important. Sometimes the simplest ones are the most important." She looked up again and smiled a little nostalgically. "I really do love doing them."

"I know," he replied honestly. "My favorite is the second form. Open-handed--"

He struck a simple pose, his hands not in the traditional stance, and went on to do a quick two or three moves. "--and flows like water."

The form and stance he did were unfamiliar to her but she could see pieces of her own second stance in what he did. She watched curiously, she'd always enjoyed seeing other people do martial arts. Seeing the differences and similarities. His gave him a different rhythm than she was accustom to but it felt familiar to her. She watched the arch of his wrist, the angle of his elbow. She grinned at him. "Yours is very nice."

"I liked yours too," he admitted. But since Hong Kong's mun would accomplish nothing short of making him look like a retard, she's not going to go too far into the technicalities of the kata.
